The calendar says it’s August! Depending on when your school year starts, it is a good time to start pushing those bed times up a little earlier to get our bio-rhythms back on track. For little ones just starting out, story scripts can be really helpful (like a book you make with PowerPoint) and read together to describe what the school day will be like. Talk about transitions with older ones if starting a new school; even doing a trial run before the first day can help minimize anxiety. For some parents, it can be helpful to write a letter to the teacher describing how our child learns best. And finally, get in some good one on one time to talk about hopes for the new school year together; ways to grow – not just academically but in other ways too.
