Connection

Connection

As humans we are built for connection. We thrive on it. I learned recently that those who regularly volunteer are happier and more fulfilled. Physically, physiologically, mentally, and spiritually, we need each other. And our children and teens especially need us. How are you gently offering and maintaining the connection? Even if your teen prefers to be alone in their room. Connection takes investment, but it is worth it.

One of the community forums I follow came up with a list of beautiful ways to offer connection to your child. Ideas included simply mirroring a little one, smiling, silly jokes, texting your teen a funny meme, going on walks together and counting farts (!), sending weekly postcards of family memories to your grown and flown ones. The creativity is endless and imaginatively healing. Keep that candle lit and watch for it to come back to you in some way.
