On mothering

Mothering is so many things. It is stopping someone else’s child from walking into a street without looking. It is bringing soup to a friend who is sick. It is making sure you can be there for most of the things but giving yourself grace when you can’t do all the things. It is teaching your children identity: how to color inside the lines and when it’s important to color outside the lines. It is passing on heart-wisdom to the next generation. It is being a light, a path, a hand, a hug, a North Star. Motherhood is a deeper icon; meaningful to us all. Let us keep walking each other along.
