Things to ask before going on play dates…

* Who will be supervising?
* Exchange best way to get in touch in case of an emergency
* What are the general rules you have in your home?
* Does your child have any food allergies and if so does he/she have an epi-pen?
* Are there firearms in the home and if so are they locked and put away with the ammunition kept separately in a hidden place?
* Agreed upon media usage

This conversation can be light but get to the importance of safety. Once you break the ice, these discussions will feel more and more natural and chances are the other parents/caretakers will be appreciative of your diligence in caring for each other.
